Is Your Window Air Conditioner Safely Installed?

As summer officially arrives with a hot, steamy vengeance, air conditioners throughout the city are running at full capacity. If you have a window A/C unit in your apartment, it is crucial to ensure that the unit is safely installed. New York City Local Law 11 requires all window air conditioners to be installed with an A/C Safe Air Conditioner Support Bracket in buildings more than six stories high.

When installing a window air conditioner, it is best to have a team of two people. You can install a window AC support bracket on the outside of your home for an extra layer of support, making sure it is 100% secure.

The window air conditioner support bar is made of heavy-gauge steel with an epoxy-coated surface treatment, ensuring long-lasting outdoor service and preventing the window air conditioners from dropping out of the window.

The window AC support bracket fits wall thicknesses from 4" to 15" or window sill thicknesses from 2" to 11". The window sill must be a minimum of 2 inches deep for placing the base and able to accept 2 1/2 inches long screws. The bracket is usually suitable for brick, cement, and wood window sills, but not for hollow aluminum window sills. It is designed for ordinary single/double-hung windows with window sills and cannot be used with slide casement or casement windows.
